The Building of our New Bandroom

Armed with an Arts Council of Wales National Lottery grant of £100,000 and a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grant of £47,000, the band has commissioned the WT Building Group to construct a new bandroom at our existing bandroom site. The work started early March 2000 and the band moved in in December of that year.
The band has been rehearsing at the site since 1949, when the band purchased the 'old church hall' for the grand sum of £150. The building had been standing since the 1890's, but being made entirely of wood (apart from an outer covering of metal sheeting) it was in dire need of repair.
It was therefore decided to demolish the existing building and replace it with a purpose built modern bandroom. However more exciting, is the fact that this building can not only be used by the band, but by the whole community.

The band wishes to thank The Arts Council of Wales, The National Lottery and the ERDF for their support in this venture.
We would also like to thank the committee of the Ferndale Band and Musical Club for their generous provision of rehearsal facilities while the construction work was being carried out.

The Bandroom Opening
The Bandroom was officially opened on 21st September 2001 by Tom Clift of Valley Lines and Lisa Morris of The Arts Council of Wales - Lottery Division
